Île Tromelin is a small, uninhabited French territory in the Indian Ocean, east of Madagascar and north of Réunion. It measures about 1.7 km² and is part of the Scattered Islands, administered by the French Southern and Antarctic Lands. The island features a flat, sandy landscape with sparse vegetation. It is an important nesting site for seabirds and turtles. The sovereignty of Île Tromelin is contested by Mauritius, though it remains under French control.
